PBCA URGES A VOTE FOR EXPERIENCE.

Dear members,

Many of you have received emailed voting advice from the developer-connected, Peregian Springs based group PFAFA, using an email list taken from our database some time ago.

This is our response;

Peregian Beach Community Association has been on the front line for more than 20-years fighting for this precious part of the coast, but we consider the crisis facing us now to be, by far, our greatest challenge.

We face the triple threats of the pandemic and the associated economic crash that is now unfolding, climate change that is our greatest long-term challenge, and a new Noosa Council that demands experience and leadership more than ever.

Whatever happens … at least two councillors elected in the coming days will be new and untested.

If we also elect a new Mayor who has no local government experience this increases the risk of a dysfunctional Council.

The very challenging times ahead will require experience, leadership and level heads.

Having publicly supported the new Noosa Plan, now approved by the State Government, we also insist that our Council candidates publicly support the plan and the steady direction it provides for our community.

We must avoid the compounded chaos that might ensue from a health crisis, an economic crisis, an environmental crisis AND an inexperienced council.

It is for this reason that we endorse a candidates’ list for the first time in our history.

MAYOR – TONY WELLINGTON.

COUNCILLORS – CHOOSE only SIX FROM THIS LIST:

CR. FRANK WILKIE

CR. BRIAN STOCKWELL

PHIL MORAN

YANNI VAN ZIJL

TOM WEGENER

OE JURISEVIC

ALAN LANDER

MEGHAN HALVERSON
